尽管乐队第一次演出是在马里兰州巴尔的摩，但正式成立是在2004年10月，并由Shawn Milke, Patrick Thompson, Dennis Lee, Steven Tomany 和 Daniel Magnuson五人组成。Alesana是2005年第一支加盟Tragic hero唱片公司的乐队。2005年5月他们发布了第一张唱片“try this with your eyes closed。同年，Will Anderson取代了Daniel Magnuson鼓手的位置。 2006年发布的专辑”On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax“，灵感取自于希腊神话。比如Ambrosia，取材于《迈达斯国王和他的点金术》；The Third Temptation of Paris取材于特洛伊战争。2006年他们加入了Fearless唱片公司，2008年，专辑On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax曾在billboard榜单上位居44。 2008年，Alesana又完成了最新专辑”Where Myth Fades to Legend“的录制。专辑于08年6月3号发布，并引起网络轰动。歌曲中所有女声都由吉他手 Shawn Milke的姐姐Melissa完成。同上一张专辑相比，新专辑多数的歌的灵感都来自乐队成员最喜欢的格林兄弟中的寓言故事，除了”as you wish“取材于《公主新娘》。All Night Dance Parties In The Underground Palace则来源于安徒生童话《红舞鞋》，是Shawn Milke写给他未婚妻的。“This is Usually the Part Where People Scream ”是美剧“英雄”的写照。“Obsession is Such an Ugly Word”的特点就是乐队所有vocals参与的一部作品。 2009年1月20日，“Seduction”的MV正式发布；2009年3月10日专辑“punk goes pop 2发布，其中包括由alesana翻唱的Justin Timberlake的作品”what goes around...comes around“。 2009年7月，alesana开始投入第三张专辑的编写中，根据Shawn Milke描述，新专辑会命名为”The Emptiness“。7月中旬，alesana的myspace页面应Shawn的要求，重新编排，将主题直接导向新专辑的构思。 专辑“The Emptiness”于2010年发布。这张专辑深受诗人埃德加·爱伦·坡的“Annabel Lee”影响。在这张专辑里，主人公有个名叫Annabel Lee的爱人，而她在第一首歌开始之前就已经死去了。歌名In Her Tomb By The Sounding Sea是这首诗的最后一句。
