At last the dusk came golden and misty

Over the field the blue sky slowly darkened

And the mice began to think about getting home

All the food was finished up they hid in rush

When the snow are lying deep and frosty stars be jewel the night

When the field had gone to sleep

when summer stream had turned to ice



They walked back through the fields in the evening sun

Looking very splendid in the wedding clothes

The old vole was taken back to his hole first

The rest gradually made their way home
